I have been in stealth mode for awhile but I’ve made an amazing transition and have settled in to my second day here at Blast Radius. A big thanks to everyone that offered advice during my three week unemployment panic — I have to pinch myself now looking out over the hard-floors, open concept space — my floor includes such luxuries as a gaming station, lots of whiteboards, and a ping pong table — yes, the perfect work|play environment.

It looks like I’ll be working with a great cast on a world stage, and am very excited about sharing that spotlight; pouring my Flash superpowers into some of the best accounts in the industry. Its also great to reconnect with some familiar faces (Julie, Terri, Caspian) who I haven’t seen in a few years and know it will be great to collaborate with them again.

I’ve already started developing using a modified Cairngorm framework which may be overkill for this particular project but have no problems using it as I realize that its important that our development team all be on the same page. I’m also starting to look for opportunities to promote and incorporate HIVE into our work flow which is ideally suited for more raw AS3 projects that do not require the Flex framework.

During my time off, I did a lot of experimenting and pumped some life back into www.headwinds.net but she is still a bit of a bride of frankenstein but I decided to put it online anyways as a work-in-progress. Its great to have a hobby site to work on and learn new things so that I’ll be ready to apply them to my client work but right now I’m far from a 3D master, although, by building 2D tools to manipulate 3D objects, I’m growing more accustomed to assembling and animating objects in 3D space; and moving towards bringing my own 3D creations to life.
